Joel Hoffman is a PhD / Masters in Clinical Psychology candidate at UNSW Sydney. His research investigates the impact of moral violations (Moral Injury) on refugee mental health. He is also a provisional Psychologist undergoing his clinical training. Joel completed a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) at the University of Sydney, a Graduate Diploma in Psychology from the University of Melbourne, and a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies at George Fox University in the United States.
Prior to joining the Refugee Trauma and Recovery Program, Joel has worked in Australia as an asylum seeker caseworker, and has worked internationally on human rights projects in places such as Haiti, Egypt, Malawi and Uganda. He is passionate about cross-cultural understandings and applications of mental health.
