RTRP had the absolute pleasure to attend the 20th Australasian Conference on Traumatic Stress (ACOTS), hearing the amazing research being conducted on traumatic stress across the globe, as well as presenting the work that we have been doing with individuals from refugee backgrounds. There were many great talks and workshops encapsulating the conference's theme: how there may be different pathways to recovery from trauma, and that one can grow as an individual from their experiences. Our team presented the latest research from our lab on the different factors affecting refugee mental health and resettlement, including living difficulties and psychological mechanisms.
A special congratulations to RTRP members, Joel Hoffman and Philippa Specker, for receiving first and second prizes in the Australasian Society for Traumatic Stress Studies - ASTSS Research Awards, respectively. The award recognises academic excellence and innovation in traumatic stress research. Well done Joel and Philippa!
